Students who have previously completed their Yoga Alliance 200 Hour Level 1 training, and want to take their teaching to the next level. The training is also suitable for yogis who haven’t completed Level 1 but simply want to deepen their practice without teaching.
Your path to becoming a Yoga Alliance 500-hour certified yoga teacher is so much more than just learning breathwork and poses; this is your opportunity to progress with your practice, and develop and flourish into a more confident, knowledgeable yoga teacher.
“A month of truly inspirational teaching, wisdom, insight and shared knowledge as well as laughter, joy, tears, release… It is hard to articulate what I received on this beautiful training for it is so much more than words can convey. My heart is full of gratitude and I am ready to share it with others… May the light that I received ignite the light within all those whose path crosses with mine…” – Tanya Marie Green
Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, on the banks of the Holy River Ganges… Rishikesh is thought by many to be the spiritual home of Yoga and it is one of the most beautiful and fascinating places to visit and practice in. The main destinations are Laxman Julha and Ram Julha, two lively and bustling towns that have built up around pedestrian bridges that traverse the river. Here you will find countless Ashrams, Temples, Statues, Yogis, Gurus and Sadhus… not to mention a wide variety of tasty restaurants, shops and stalls.
Our home in Rishikesh is in a peaceful area, a few kilometres outside of town. It’s a large, beautiful Villa in nature with plenty of hammocks and rest-areas to relax in, meditate, or watch the monkeys and birds, and it’s right on the Ganges so you can jump straight in! There’s also a stream and small waterfall that run straight through the property where you can bathe too.
Rishikesh is also a great departure point if you are hoping to explore some other parts of India after; many onward transport options are available, whether you want to visit the Dalai Lama in Dharamshala, or the burning grounds of Varanassi or the source of the Ganges at Gangotri. The options are endless.
The accommodation at Rainforest House is amongst the finest you’ll find anywhere in Rishikesh. The rooms are lovely, the food is exceptional, and the location is divine.
All rooms are beautiful and tastefully decorated and each one has a private bathroom with a hot shower. Filtered water and Wi-Fi is provided, and the food is truly exceptional here – mealtimes are a delicious highlight!
Taking a yoga teacher training in Rishikesh is very special indeed. Even the surrounding mountains vibrate with the magic of thousands of years of Yoga and Spiritual practice. We absolutely love it here and we know that you will too….treat yourself to the best!
Each morning, you will start the day with two hours of asana practice, followed by lectures and discussion. You will then move into practical exploration and teaching skills. The teaching day finishes with Pranayama.
Our Level 2 training is made up of 3 modules.
07:30 – Asana
10:30 – Lectures & Discussion
13:15 – Lunch
15:30 – Practical Exploration, Teaching & Communication Skills
18:30 – Pranayama

Students who complete this training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as a (RYT®) 500 Hour Certified Yoga Teacher.
James was born in London and first discovered yoga in 2003, while at drama school. However, he truly caught the bug a few years later while performing in a Shakespeare production that toured India. His routine of sunrise practices overlooking the rooftops of Udaipur with an old yogi called Prakash sealed the deal. Since obtaining his 500 hour teacher training certificate with Tribe, James has completed 200 hours with Max Strom and taken further training with David Swenson, Yogrishi Vishvketu, and Tiffany Cruickshank and continues his studies on advanced training with Jason Crandell. His other major influences are Max Strom, Yogrishi Vishvketu, David Swenson, Christopher Wallis and his guru, Sri Prem Baba.
Susan Marrufo, MA, E-RYT 500, left the United States and a job in advertising in 2008 to travel internationally and experience life beyond the confines of her cultural conditioning. She received her first 500-hr yoga certification in Thailand in 2009, where she began her studies of the classical yogic scriptures and delved deeply into esoteric tantric philosophy. After 2 years of teaching month-long tantric based courses on the banks of the Ganges in India and the Pacific coastal towns of Mexico, Susan returned to the US to begin a residential internship with the Kripalu School of Yoga, where she taught in and project managed several Kripalu yoga teacher trainings as well as received her 2nd 500-hr teacher training certification from the Kripalu School of Yoga.
Since then, Susan has split her time between India, Thailand and the US, facilitating group courses in the inquiry of yoga and meditation as well as diving increasingly deeper into her own yogic studies. After many years of travel, she is happy to have found a home in the City of Angels.
She is the Co-founder of Samarasa Center in Los Angeles, California.
