200 Hour level 1 Yoga Teacher Training in Peru (with optional Sacred Medicine Ceremony)

Welcome to The Path of Yoga Family! We are a team of experienced yogis, teacher-trainers, and good friends. We have taught dozens of training all over the world and come from a variety of backgrounds, yogic styles, and lineages. Path of Yoga has come together to create this exceptional course and transformational month.

We share a love for a strong yet nourishing dynamic practice married with traditional Hatha. The practically applied philosophy and sacred traditions of the East, together with the discoveries of modern sports science are the essence and heart of this immersion course.

Join Path of Yoga for this transformational month where we will live and breathe yoga together, developing ourselves physically and mentally and learning how to teach these transformative techniques to others. At the end of the month, you will be a certified Yoga Alliance 200hr teacher, but more importantly, you will have the necessary confidence, knowledge, and teaching skills to blossom into a world-class yoga teacher.

Following our graduates ceremony, there can be an optional Sacred Medicine Ceremony. Please let us know if you’re interested in taking part.

Path of Yoga look forward to practicing with you!

Who is this training for?

Perfect for students of yoga, whether they are wishing to step into the wonderful and rewarding world of teaching, or simply deepen and evolve their own practice. We normally ask that students have at least one year of practical yoga experience of around 3-5 hours per week before joining. However, if you have attended an immersion course/retreat, or have less experience and feel that you are ready, then we are happy to discuss each individual case.

About the Munay Sonqo Retreat & Yoga Center

Munay Sonqo provides an epic setting to all who are aspiring to spiritual transformation, personal development, and connection to the natural world. Nestled in an oasis of native plants and fruit trees and held by the power of the surrounding mountains, Munay Sonqo offers a place to connect to the incredible depth and beauty that nature offers, resulting in a profoundly nurturing and unforgettable experience. Munay Sonqo means ‘Loving Heart’ in Quechua, the language of the Incas and the inhabitants of The Sacred Valley of Peru, where it is located. The Sacred Valley is a majestic spot in the Andes Mountains close to Cusco and home of the twelve revered mountains known as “Apus” — Mountain Spirits who are said to intercede on behalf of people in protection and guidance. There are three room types to choose from. Stay in nature in a shared room with ensuite or treat yourself to a private room.

Food

The food is vegetarian and delicious, and three meals a day are included in with your training. Many of the ingredients used come from the organic farms of the NGO the centre supports, Sacha Munay. They can also cater to vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free requests.

Yoga Teaching Program

Each morning, you will start the day with three hours of practice made up of asana, pranayama, and meditation, followed by a healthy breakfast. You will then move into lectures on a variety of topics ranging from philosophy to anatomy and sequencing. In the afternoons you will go deeper into the methodology of the techniques and practice how to teach and better understand them.

Syllabus

An exploration of the classical traditions and their core philosophies, including Hatha, Tantra, and Vinyasa yoga. Learn about where the roots of yoga first took hold and how it has branched into where it is now.

The anatomy of movement and study of the key body systems. You will explore how the body works, and apply this important knowledge in safe and effective practice and teaching.

Daily study and practice of postures and their alignment, adjustments, energetic and health benefits, modifications, and effective teaching cues.

Ancient yogis described and revered the anatomy and potency of the energy body, which lays beyond the physical form. There are many layers to understanding and experiencing prana, this vital life force, and how it moves through the Chakras or energetic centers. These teachings are at the very core of what makes yoga such a potent and timeless practice.

The breath is the connection to life and the foundation of all classical Hatha yoga practice. The breath has a profound influence on the nervous system and a deep effect on life quality, both on and off the yoga mat. Many practices will be offered from basic breath awareness to “advanced” pranayama.

You will learn how to use the toolkit offered in the yoga system to create meaningful sequences. A good class is not just anatomically sound but also meaningful on more subtle levels.

Understanding your own mind and its makeup is an important part of being a guide in any practice. The power of meditation is significant. You will study and practice a variety of techniques that are aimed at the development of your own personal meditation practice and being able to hold space when teaching.

A fascinating and practical science of life from ancient India that offers tools to better understand yourself and others therapeutically through the context of the doshas, gunas, and prana.

The necessary skills to confidently lead a yoga class is an important part of taking a teacher training course. There will be plenty of practice teaching: one on one, in small groups, and in front of the whole class coupled with the art and science of teaching and presenting.

Yoga has become a bustling market for teachers and students alike, and there are a number of ways to you can stand out from the crowd and jump-start your teaching career. Path of Yoga will show you how.
